This is an independent experiment, not an official warning. It estimates risk from reported events using a contagion model, and it can be wrong. Always follow local authorities. In an emergency call 112.
Reports of protests, clashes, riots and security alerts from news, official accounts and social media are collected several times a day and published automatically, so a report can occasionally be wrong. A model treats unrest like an epidemic spreading between 867 European cities and towns: it spreads within a city, to other cities in the same country and to nearby cities, mostly in the evening and at weekends, and fades as crowds tire. The chance shown for your town is the highest hourly chance of riot-level disorder (clashes, arson, looting) in the nearest forecast city. Smaller towns usually see less trouble than the city they're linked to.
Likelihoods of disruption (transport, shops, public offices and so on) come from how often these followed riots in past waves in France (2005, 2023), the gilets jaunes (2018–19) and England (2011).
